What to do in Hodmezovasarhely
Although a small town,
there is plenty to do in the area.
Hodmezovasarhely is famous for its pottery. You can visit some of the potter’s houses and see how they keep this tradition alive. There is an embroidery where local women preserve past patterns. The thermal water of the spa rises to
the surface from 2200 m deep, it is about 76 °C-thermal water with
low toughness. It is rich in alkali hydrogen carbonates – the
goverment declared it as medicinal waters.
Hunting is also a very popular sport in the
area and
there are some hunting associations in Hodmezovasarhely where you can
enquire
about hunting facilities. There are many horse farms where you can go
horse-riding which is very popular in the area. On some farms you can

archery.

you can find the River Tisza and its backwater and also little ponds
where you
can go fishing or angling or just enjoy the scenery.

Hodmezovasarhely is a registered slow city you can
simply enjoy a walk in the centre. There are lots of bicycle lanes in
the town
so you can explore the town on two wheels. There is a bicycle lane to
Martely,
a nearby village by the Tisza backwater where you can go for a walk on
the
river bank and have some fried fish at the local pubs.
